Explore wabi-sabi in Kensington market with Lee Kramer and Richard Martin
“If an object can bring about, within us, a sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be said to be wabi-sabi” Andrew Juniper.
Richard Martin and Lee Kraemer will approach the idea of finding magic in the ordinary from their unique perspectives.
Friday evening’s meeting will be an introduction to the Japanese aesthetic concept of Wabi Sabi.
Richard’s gorgeous images illustrate how beauty, age and patina, because of their impermanence, add vital interest to an image.
Lee’s images explores how in this age of newness and consumerism, we forget to appreciate the marks of age, attend to what has been as we try to imagine how we would feel had it not been.
On Saturday morning we will meet early and shoot in Kensington Market, have lunch and then meet to share selected images and discuss the mornings experience.
Location of the meetings will be downtown Toronto.
